Introducing Julie Shield MBE

Julie Shield from Abbeyvale Awarded in the Queen’s Honours List!

Julie and Caron Cook with the people we support and the team at Abbeyvale

We’re bursting with pride to announce that Julie Shield, our Registered Manager of Essential Care & Support’s Abbeyvale Care Centre in Hartlepool, was on The Queen’s Birthday Honours List earlier this month, receiving a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to nursing in social care.

Last year Julie was one of the first long service registered manager’s to be awarded one of the new Chief Nurse badges recognising her commitment to the industry.

Julie, who didn’t at first believe the letter she received from Buckingham Palace was real, told us she nearly burnt it on her fire along with her other junk mail!

Julie said “I’m still trying to get my head round this. It’s just a total shock. I read the letter over and over again. It’s not just about me, it’s about my team, the people we support and their families. They’ve helped me achieve this.” She added: “I’m very proud. My heart swells just thinking about it.”

Huge well done Julie, from all your colleagues at National Care Group. We can’t wait to see the photos of you collecting your medal from Buckingham Palace later this year 👑.
