The report, which is updated annually, recognises the growth of private organisations across the sector and ranks them from one to 50. It charts the achievements made by those in the industry and the care they provide to the most vulnerable members in society.

The group, which cares for adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury and mental health issues, has seen significant growth of its annual turnover since its launch in 2016. The increase from £5m in 2016/17 to £68m in 2020/21 has been fuelled by the acquisition and merger of more than 40 care services across England and Wales.

James Allen, CEO of National Care Group, said: “At the heart of everything we do are the people we support, for whom we strive to offer the highest quality services possible. Therefore, we’re thrilled to have been awarded first place in this year’s Alantra rankings. As a company that has grown consistently in our first five years, we’re pleased to now employ 2,400 valued colleagues and provide support to more than 1,150 people across more than 300 settings nationwide. We offer both residential care and supported living as well as day support and a specialist college within our service portfolio.”

This is the second time the group has been recognised for its exponential growth, after being named one of the top three fastest-growing private companies in the UK by The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 in 2020.

Not one to rest on its laurels, National Care Group is continuing with its ambitious plans through the launch of its inaugural apprenticeship scheme, which aims to tackle the sector skills gap and help the next generation kickstart its career in care.

James added: “We are eager to continue our growth into other avenues within the care sector and aim to do this through further acquisitions of essential services. Ensuring these new services align with our qualities and fit within National Care Group’s ethos is paramount to our plans as we build on the strong foundations we’ve already established.

“I’m extremely proud of the work each and every single National Care Group colleague has to put in to help us achieve this accolade. Not only is this a celebration of the work we do as a business, but it also helps to highlight the importance of social care and the incredible work the sector is doing to care and support the people who need it most.

“It’s been a highly successful first five years and I’m looking forward to seeing where the second half of the decade takes us.” Jame Allen, Chief Executive Officer
