#Mondaymotivation: Shelton Care Group during COVID-19

Our #Mondaymotivation blog features a collection of stories from Shelton Care Group, Stoke-on-Trent, who are staying active and busy during COVID-19.

They are making the most of the current situation and are enjoying themselves with a variety of activities.

Carly tells us how she has been keeping busy during COVID-19…

My name is Carly and I like music and love dancing.

I enjoy having my hair and nails done especially painted with pink hearts.

In my spare time, I like doing lots of arts and crafts like paper mache, painting rainbows, making cards and friendship bracelets.

I also like doing some jigsaws, especially princess ones like Snow White, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid!

Virtual zoo visit

With the lockdown, the individuals are not able to visit attractions or the community, so staff at Day Services came up with the creative idea of creating a virtual zoo for the individuals we support to enjoy.

The individuals we support got to visit ‘Chester Zoo’ from their own service, with a video of the park being streamed on the TV.

Shelton Care: Creating activity work books

Staff at the Day Services, Shelton Care Group, helped the individuals we support to create activity work books for the individuals that are not able to attend the unit.

The activity books were then posted out to the individuals home address so that they are not missing out on any of the fun activities taking place.

Shelton Care: Yoga sessions

Staff and the individuals we support at the Day Services took part in some yoga to keep themselves fit and active during this period.

Donna Walklet, Registered Manager, said: “We are finding activities that can be done indoors that will help the people we support physically but also something that they will enjoy.”
